Truck Festival in Oxfordshire celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, and the lineup was worthy of such a milestone for a mid-sized British festival. Headlining The Nest stage this year was Dinosaur Pile-Up, a band who have had a tough few years were back on incredible form singing and playing to a packed out tent at Truck.
Matt Bigland (Guitar/Vocals) and Jim Cratchley (Bass/Backing) had their Laney rigs in full force with Matt running a Laney Ironheart IRT120H and a GH100R through two GS412VR cabinets. Jim runs two Digbeth DB500H, one going to a DBBV212 and the second into a DBV810, a mighty rig!
Hearing the now legendary riffs of your favourite songs like 11:11, Pouring Gasoline, Thrash Metal Cassette and so many more, really made you realise that these lads were born to make people headbang, jump up and down and have the best time at a live show.
Hearing the crowd roar between every song proved the want and need for live rock music is very much alive, kicking to the kurb some often heard throw away comments you hear such as “there’s no good music anymore” well, people who say that need to listen up, and listen to Dinosaur Pile-Up.
As the set nears a climatic ending the song people have been chanting for starts, the riff we all wish we had written but DPU did first: BACKFOOT!
Before you can believe your own ears, the set is over and it is time for the band to pack up their Laney gear and head off to the next one. What a band. They have big things coming too! A follow-up to the chart smashing 2019 record ‘Celebrity Mansions’, and we can not wait to hear what the new record is going to sound like, but as a cheeky preview, talking with Matt Bigland he simply and purely said:
“Many riffs, many hooks, rock n roll baby!”
