Here at Laney Amplification, we are proud to say that we played a small part in the incredible 2nd tribute concert to the late great Jeff Beck – one of the greatest guitarists the world has ever seen.
The 2nd night of the two-part tribute took place at the Royal Albert Hall in May 23, 2023, and featured a star-studded line up of musical guests including, Ronnie Wood, Johnny Depp, Nathan East, Imelda May, Anika Nilles, John Mclaughlin and many more artists who had previously played with or were musical peers of Jeff Beck.
The English guitarist and multi-Grammy award winner, Beck, died “suddenly” aged 78 in January 2023 after contracting bacterial meningitis, his representative said.
Jeff Beck, who was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame twice, once for his work in The Yardbirds and again as a solo artist, enjoyed a 50-plus-year music career, garnering an impressive 8 Grammy Awards, and was ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the “100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time”. In the summer of 2016, the iconic guitarist celebrated his 50-year career anniversary in music with the now legendary concert at the Hollywood Bowl and was recently creating more records with his long-time collaborator and live guitarist, Johnny Depp.

The first night of the star-studded tribute saw friends of Jeff Beck take the stage at The Royal Albert Hall backed by Laney Digbeth Bass amplifiers. Laney artist Nathan East who was playing bass throughout the evening on the Laney Digbeth Bass amp loaned his rig to Ronnie Wood when briefly taking over on bass duties for the night.
Nathan East (Eric Clapton et al) and Ronnie Wood, who was in a band with Jeff Beck in the 60s, both used the Laney DIGBETH DB500H bass amp head with Laney Digbeth DBV212-4 bass cabinet throughout the gig to get their bass sound.

The Laney Digbeth 500-watt bass head and DBV212-4 cabinet with its 2×12” speakers were the perfect choices for the band’s sound, as the Digbeth DB500H bass head provides that vintage sound that would certainly resonate with these incredible musicians who love the sound of vintage styled amplifiers.

The ultra-modern functionality and reliability of the DB500H coupled with the range of FET and Tube tones not previously available in a compact, powerful and portable bass amp, gave these artists the reliable, legend-worthy sound they needed to make sure the gig went off without a hitch! One of the reasons why Laney Digbeth amps are so good!
The combination of this incredible Laney Digbeth bass head with the DBV212-4 with its 2×12” cabinet’s vintage-voiced HH Black Label series ceramic drivers was the perfect tone pairing.
Tama Artist, Jeff Beck’s touring drummer and world-renowned session player Anika Nilles was on hand to provide the backbone at the Jeff Beck Tribute at the Albert Hall, laying down the beats as the likes of Billy Gibbons, John Mclaughlin, Ronnie Wood, Nathan East, Johnny Depp and Imelda May rocked out to some classic Jeff Beck tracks.
We are privileged to be part of such an incredible tribute concert to one of the greatest guitar players in the world.
